ATMS Therapeutic Goods Advertising Certificate of Exemption
In the past, ATMS issued a "Therapeutic Goods Advertising Certificate of Exemption" to accredited Members every year. The Certificate was issued because Members received requests from suppliers of therapeutic goods - many suppliers were under the impression that they needed to sight these certificates before the Member could receive advertising for Practitioner-Only Products (POP's).
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) restricts the advertising of POP's to members of professional healthcare associations named in the TGA's "Schedule 1". It was understood at the time that copies of these certificates were required to verify that the person named on the certificate was a member of a professional association named in the Schedule.
ATMS has more recently been informed by the TGA that it is sufficient for Members to provide confirmation to therapeutic goods suppliers that the purchaser of these goods is an accredited Member of ATMS, for the Member to be exempt from these advertising restrictions. As a result of this clarification by the TGA, ATMS ceased the routine supply of these TGA Certificates in 2014.
However, if you're an accredited member of ATMS and you still feel that you require this certificate, simply contact ATMS, and we will be happy to supply it.
