About Us

Peter Berryman - President  

 

 

Qualified in Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Education, and as a Medical Scientist, Peter has spent 31 years in private practice so far. He has lectured in Homeopathy since 1990, and Medical Sciences since 2006. Peter has been an ATMS Board member since 2007 and sits on the Academic Review Committee as Chair, as well as serving on the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Regulatory Committee, Continuing Professional Education Committee, Marketing Committee and the Complaints Committee.

 

Robert Medhurst - Vice President 

                    Robert is an experienced Naturopath and has worked in this area for 30 years. He holds a Bachelor degree in Naturopathy and qualifications in Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Nutrition, Massage, Pathology, Workplace Training and Assessment, and Business Management. He’s operated four successful Naturopathy clinics in metropolitan Sydney and currently manages a Naturopathy clinic in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.


Sandra Grace - Vice President

 Sandra Grace

 

Sandra Grace (PhD, MSc, DC, DO, DBM, Dip Acup, BA, Dip Ed) is well known for her contributions to natural medicine practice, research and education for over 30 years. She previously served as a Director of ATMS for 23 years and is also Editor of JATMS and Chair of the ATMS Research Committee. Sandra is a Senior Lecturer at Southern Cross University and a Research Fellow at the Education for Practice Institute, Charles Stuart University. She has practiced privately for over 25 years and has extensive experience as a teacher and designer of natural therapies courses. She was the founder and principal of Endeavour College of Natural Therapies.

Christine Pope - Treasurer 

 

 

Christine holds a Bachelor of Commerce (1984), Bachelor of Health Science (2010), Adv. Dip. Of Homeopathy (2005) and Nutrition (2013). Her unusual combination of skills come from twenty years in Risk Management in Investment Banking before her career a natural medicine practitioner. Her focus is on preventative health. Christine is Head of Department of Nutrition at Nature Care College and lectures in Homoeopathy and Nutrition as well as teaching business skill programs for natural therapists. In addition, she has been involved in promoting natural medicine; as Treasurer for the Australian Homeopathic Association, where she initiated a major project establishing online renewals and seminar registrations.

Antoinette Balnave - Director

Antoinette has been a member of ATMS since 1986 and holds a Diploma in Naturopathy, Diploma in Medical Herbalism, Diploma in Iridology, and is a Certified Hemaview™ Practitioner. Antoinette has been in business for 53 years as well as a business mentor and would like to pass on some of her knowledge to our members. Antoinette currently chairs the Finance Audit and Compliance Committee and sits on the Complaints Committee and the Continuing Education Committee.

 Maggie Sands - Director  

 Maggie Sands

 

Maggie is qualified in Naturopathy, Remedial Massage and Somatic Psychotherapy and has over 40 years experience in the Natural Medicine Profession. Maggie initially became a Board Member in 1987 and was awarded Life Membership in 1999. During her Directorship she has held the positions of Vice President on two separate occasions during 1993-2000 and 2006-2011, Treasurer in 2012 and President in 2013-2015. Maggie is the Founding Director of the School of Integrated Body Therapy and the LakeSpa Wellness Centre situated on the Central Coast in New South Wales which were established in 1985 and 1989. Maggie sits on the Finance Audit and Compliance Committee, the Regulatory Committee, the Academic Review Committee and the Complaints Committee.

Jesse Sleeman - Director 

 Jesse Sleeman

 

Jesse Sleeman has been a lecturer in Herbal Medicine and medical philosophies during the past 30 years. He created the four-year course at the Adelaide Training College of Complementary Medicine, where he continued to act as Senior Lecturer in Western Herbalism for 14 years. In addition, he has presented talks at many national conferences of ATMS and NHAA. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of
Arts. During the 1970s he trained in Medical Herbalism through the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in Britain. Since his return to Australia in 1985 he has added TCM, Ayurveda, and the Butekyo Method of Breathing to his clinical skills.

Betty Tannous - Director

 Betty Tannous

 

Betty is an experienced business consultant, Remedial Massage Therapist and Homeopathic practitioner and is extensively qualified in these areas, holding a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Health), Advanced Diploma of Homoeopathy, a Diploma of Remedial Massage and Certificate IV in Assessment and Training. Betty assists small businesses to implement new policies, IT solutions and train staff. She has been involved in the education sector, particularly with VET providers, participating in submissions, audits and attending panel interviews with the Higher Education advisory board.

Daniel Zhang - Director  

 Daniel Zhang

 

Daniel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine from North China Coal Medical College with; a Diploma of Business from Lloyd’s International College Sydney and a Master’s Degree in Translation and Linguistics from the University of Western Sydney. Daniel studied a Master Qualifying in Chiropractic with Macquarie University (uncompleted) and between 1992-1999 worked at Tangshan People’s Hospital of China as a resident doctor. Daniel is an Acupuncturist at Sunshine Acupuncture and Massage Centre in Australia and currently sits on the Complaints Committee and the Continuing Education Committee.
