The ATMS AGM Awards

The Mission of ATMS is to promote, represent and support professional practitioners of natural medicine occupations who are encouraged to pursue the highest ideals of professionalism in their natural medicine practice and education.

A practical demonstration of the ATMS Mission is the annual Awards presented at the ATMS AGM. The winners of these awards will be announced at the 2016 AGM to be held in Melbourne on Sunday 20 November 2016.

Applications for each of these awards are to be returned to ATMS by Friday 18 November 2016.

The Simon Schot Awards

Simon Schot was one of the Inaugural Directors of ATMS and was bestowed Life Membership in 1989 in recognition of the personal and financial support he provided the association in its early days. Simon was well regarded amongst the profession and ATMS has proudly dedicated this Award to Simon since 1998.

The Simon Schot Award is an annual event to encourage excellence in the study of natural medicine. The Award is made possible by the support of GSA Insurance Brokers. There are 10 educational grants of $1,000 offered to eligible ATMS members. To apply for one of these grants you must be a current ATMS accredited or life member, and tell us how you would use this money to further your studies and learning in the area of natural medicine.

The Dorothy Hall Award for Practitioner Excellence

Dorothy Hall was the founding President of ATMS in 1984. In the formation of ATMS Dorothy demonstrated enormous insight and courage which initiated the foundation of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. ATMS was founded with 7 practitioners and has expanded to be the largest natural medicine association in Australia today.

To be awarded to a current member of ATMS who has demonstrated excellence in regards to the advancement of Natural Medicine in Australia during the preceding year. The winner will be presented with a plaque and a cheque for $1000 from ATMS.

The Peter Derig Excellence Award

Peter Derig, one of the great pioneers of natural medicine, was an inspiring teacher, practitioner and supporter of ATMS. Peter was a founding member of ATMS and the Natural Medicine profession in Australia. Peter was the founder of Health Schools International and via his courses trained many successful practitioners.

To be awarded to a student from a college recognised by ATMS, the award will be presented to an outstanding Nutritional medicine student. The student will be acknowledged for clinical nutrition, clinical ability and academic achievement. The winner of the award will be presented at the AGM along with a cheque for $500 from ATMS.
